Wooded’s sire Wootton Bassett hails from the Mr Prospector sire line as does Wooded’s dam, through the same son, Gone West. An additional line to Mr Prospector is present in his damsire Elusive City, whose sire Elusive Quality is from the same family as Mr Prospector, the FRIZETTE family. ARTIE SCHILLER, MUKADDAMAH, SING SING, BALDRIC II, ROAN ROCKET, TWENTY FOUR KARAT, DJEDDAH, SEATTLE SLEW, LOMOND, GREGORIAN, FERDINAND, JET PILOT and OMAN are other FRIZETTE family members to seek to create further line breeding.
Sex balancing ELUSIVE QUALITY by using daughters and maternal granddaughters of this successful broodmare sire is another strategy.
Ifraaj’s dam is a half sister to CAPE CROSS, so mares carrying this former Australia and NZ based stallion will create a desirable Rasmussen pattern with Wooded.

Wooded’s second damsire Affirmed is out of a sister to former NZ sire, SENOR PETE. Apart from creating a desirable sex balanced pattern, his granddaughters also contribute Nijinsky II (below).
The Minstrel, damsire of Zafonic on Wootton Bassett’s sire line, is a TORPENHOW family member. This is also the family of NIJINSKY II, REDOUTE’S CHOICE, MANHATTAN RAIN, RUBICK, NIAGARA, AL MAHER, MASTERCLASS, NEW REGENT, SPINNING WORLD, DOMESDAY, EL GRAN SENOR, TRY MY BEST (sire of LAST TYCOON), FAR NORTH, UMATILLA, XAAR, HURRICANE SKY, FREE AMERICA, GOOD JOURNEY, DR. JOHNSON, and FRIENDLY RELATIONS. This famous family is another to which Wootton Bassett and his sire Iffraaj have responded. Wootton Bassett’s Gr1 winners Almanzor, Zellie and Audarya carry one or two lines to Nijinsky II, as do Iffraaj’s Gr1 winners Western Empire and Gingernuts. Iffraaj’s sons Jon Snow and Ribchester contribute fellow family member Try My Best via his son LAST TYCOON. Wooded has five lines to ALMAHMOUD family member, Northern Dancer. DANEHILL, HALO (grandsire of MORE THAN READY etc), MACHIAVELLIAN (STREET CRY & sire sons STREET SENSE, STREET BOSS, PRIDE OF DUBAI, PER INCANTO etc), AL SAMER, WAY OF LIGHT, EXIT TO NOWHERE, EL MOXIE, YOUTHFUL LEGS, DIATRIBE, ESPERERO, L’EMIGRANT, CANNONADE and ARCTIC TERN are other descendants to seek in mares.
Sex balancing Chief’s Crown, Wootton Bassett’s second damsire through mares carrying sons such as GRAND LODGE, AZZAAM, ERHAAB and BEAUTIFUL CROWN is a positive strategy.
Gay Mecene (Wooded’s third damsire) is a grandson ofMISSY BABA. Others to trace to this Blue Hen mare include STATUE OF LIBERTY, FOXHOUND, RAJA BABA (damsire of HUSSONET), LEMON DROP KID, BITE THE BULLET, DUKE OF MARMALADE, A.P. INDY, EAVESDROPPER, HONOR GRADES, SAITHOR, SAUCE BOAT and PLUGGED NICKEL.
DANZIG (via Chief’s Crown and Dayjur) is duplicated on Wooded’s fifth remove. As this is relatively far removed, introduction of further Danzig via his many sire descendants is acceptable, especially considering the success of that line in Australia. Other LADY SUSAN family members BLETCHINGLY (sire of CANNY LAD etc) and ROCKEFELLA work very well with Danzig. Wooded is inbred to Gone West, a member of the ALOPE family, and also carries fellow family member Aureole. ROUND TABLE, MARJU, DEEP IMPACT, DOUTELLE, KNOWN FACT, PULPIT, FOXLAW, ALCIDE, ATAN, TELL, ABOVE SUSPICION, MUKDDAAM, SONG OF TARA, PARTHIA and KNIGHT COMMANDER are other members to seek. Iffraaj has also demonstrated a liking for reinforcement of this family, with Gr1 winner Jon Snow carrying POMPEII COURT (damsire of STARCRAFT), whose sire Tell and grandsire Round Table are both from this line. Ifraaj’s Gr1 winner Ribchester is out of a mare by ALOPE family member Marju, who also carries Round Table.
