Being out of a sire carrying two lines to the ALMAHMOUD family, Street Cry provides a fabulous foil to Danehill mares. Danehill and his grandsire Northern Dancer are both fellow family members. This cross is already working, with Melbourne Cup winner Shocking being out of a Danehill mare.
Similarly, Halo sire line mares also provide another line to ALMAHMOUD and create a sex balanced duplication of Halo. That brings in mares by Don’t Say Halo, More Than Ready and other sons of Southern Halo here. Street Cry’s stakes place getters confirm this pattern; Southdale (USA) is out of a Saint Ballado (Halo) mare and Gazza Guru (AUS) is out of a Don’t Say Halo (Halo) mare.
“I think the extremely exciting thing about Street Cry is how he can work with Danehill line mares – there are so many here and breeders are looking for outcrosses,” enthuses Alastair Pulford. “In saying that though, he is working with plenty of other lines too.”
It is interesting to have a brief look at the basic pedigree patterns of his current Group 1 winners.
Street Cry’s jewel in the crown, Zenyatta is out of a mare by Kris S., a son of Roberto. Hail to Reason, who is sire of both Halo and Roberto, couples with Hoist the Flag in the pedigrees of both Machiavellian’s dam and Zenyatta’s dam, creating a dynamic pattern repetition.
Triple Group 1 winner Street Sense is out of a mare by Dixieland Band, a son of Northern Dancer (complementing Machiavellian and his dam sire Halo).
Whobegotyou’s dam is by Carnegie, a son of Sadler’s Wells (by Northern Dancer). He also carries a duplication of Riverman and a sex balanced duplication of Mr. Prospector.
Street Boss is from a mare by Damascus’ son Ogygian and his second dam is by Blushing Groom. Third dam is an Orsini mare. His pedigree is almost a complete outcross to Street Cry.
Triple Group 1 winner Seventh Street’s dam is by Meadowlake, whose grand-dam is a half sister to Halo’s sire Hail to Reason, both being out of mare Nothirdchance. Meadowlake’s dam is therefore similarly bred to Machiavellian, carrying a Mr. Prospector / Nothirdchance cross. In addition, Seventh Street’s second dam sire is Dixieland Band, also the damsire of Street Sense.
The Peruvian dual Grade 1 winner Tomcito, like Street Boss, is by a mare from the Damascus line. His dam also carries two lines to Northern Dancer.
Shocking, as we mentioned earlier, is out of a Danehill mare, providing two more lines to ALMAHMOUD. Maria di Castiglia is out of a mare by Don Roberto, who, like Zenyatta’s damsire, is a son of Roberto.
English Group 1 winner Majestic Roi is out of a mare inbred to Northern Dancer. Hail to Reason is also sex balanced.
Juvenile Grade 1 winner Street Hero is out of a Summer Squall mare. Summer Squall is a grandson of Northern Dancer. Street Hero’s dam is very strong in the LAVENDULA II family, being a direct descendant as well as carrying fellow family members Ambiorix and Turn-to. Street Cry carries fellow family members Alycidon and Turn-to.
Another Grade 1 winner at two years, Cry and Catch Me, is out of a mare by Hail to Reason’s grandson, Doc’s Leader. Her second dam is by a son of Northern Dancer.
A quick look at the other Aussie bred Street Cry stakes winners reveals a few different successful crosses.
Predatory Pricer, a half brother to Takeover Target and Group 2 winner, is by Northern Dancer’s grandson, Archregent.
Eight Street, a South African Gr.2 winner, is out of an Octagonal mare, with his second dam being by Sadler’s Wells (Northern Dancer).
Listed winner Sarthemare is out of a Citidancer mare. Citidancer is a grandson of Northern Dancer. Her second dam sire is a son of Riverman, creating a sex balanced duplication with Street Cry.
W.A. Listed winner Delta Gee is from a Green Line Express mare. Green Line Express traces to Star Kingdom on his tail male line. Her second dam sire Abs is a son of Red God, as is Blushing Groom, dam sire of Street Boss.
Another W.A. Listed winner, Locus Standi is out of a mare by Snaadee, a son of Danzig. Interestingly, Locus Standi’s dam is inbred to GREY FLIGHT, from the same line as Raise a Native’s sire, Native Dancer. Locus Standi also carries Raise a Native, in total offering three lines to boost the family of Mr. Prospector’s sire Raise a Native in Street Cry.
