Strategic has an excellent record with the NORTHERN DANCER line and in particular, the DANZIG branch. Of his three Group One winners, two are out of Danzig line mares. Meurice is out of a DANEHILL mare and Strategic News out of a GRAND LODGE mare. DANEHILL and DANZIG CONNECTION are also responsible for other stakes winners, while DANZERO and POLISH PATRIOT mares have produced stakes place getters by Strategic.
Other Northern Dancer line dam sires to produce stakes success with Strategic are NIGHT SHIFT, ASSERT and WESTERN SYMPHONY. Assert is a son of BE MY GUEST (also sire of PREGO, PENTIRE, WHAT A GUEST) while Western Symphony is a son of NIJINSKY II, whose sons YEATS, WHISKEY ROAD, ROYAL ACADEMY, SERHEED and CAERLEON should also make good dam sires for Strategic.
Group One winner Mistegic and her SP brother Rightson are out of a mare by VOLCANIC PRINCE (by PRIDE OF KELLINA).
The SIR TRISTRAM line has also found favour with Strategic. Group 2 winner She Will Be Loved is out of a ZABEEL mare, while stakes placegetters Heat of The Fire, Dismissal, Regicide, Master Strategy and Horace Sparks are out of mares by OCTAGONAL, DR. GRACE, SIR TRISTRAM and SOVERIEGN RED. SP Haddle McDaddle is out of an IMPERIAL PRINCE (Sir Ivor) mare.
MR. PROSPECTOR line has also had success. His son INDIAN ORE has produced Group Two winner Fair Embrace with Strategic. UMATILLA and HECTOR PROTECTOR mares have also produced stakes performers with him. Mares by THE ROGERS FOUR and UNBRIDLED’S SONG, from the same sire line as Mr. Prospector, have also resulted in stakes performers. Other sources in Australia include HUSSONET, EL MOXIE, STREET CRY, BELLOTTO, WOODMAN, THUNDER GULCH, STRAIGHT STRIKE, RHYTHM and GEIGER COUNTER.
SW Strategic Image is out of a SNIPPETS mare, while SW Riona is out of a mare by Snippets’ sire LUNCHTIME.
TWIG MOSS and fellow KLAIRON line sire LORENZACCIO are responsible for three stakes performers by Strategic.
The CENTURY line has also produced three stakes performers by Strategic, via sons RUBITON, CENTAINE and GAIN CONTROL.
Other dam sires to gain black type with Strategic to-date are IT’S FREEZING, PINE CIRCLE, SIR LAURENCE, ZEPHYR ZIP, AIR DE FRANCE, BALMERINO and ZAMAZAAN.
