By world class sire Medaglia D’Oro out of a Thunder Gulch mare, Mshawish is bred on the highly successful Medaglia D’Oro / Mr. Prospector line cross. In fact, Mshawish’s dam is inbred to Mr. Prospector. An impressive proportion of Medaglia D’Oro’s Group / Grade 1 winners are bred on this combination, however there are plenty of other lines for which Mshawish has plenty of appeal.
SIR TRISTRAM line mares will create a sex balanced duplication of Sir Ivor when mated with Mshawish. Sources of Sir Tristram include KAAPSTAD, LONHRO, DENMAN, MARAUDING, MILITARY PLUME, OCTAGONAL and ZABEEL mares. Medaglia D’Oro’s Listed winner VERANILLO is out of a LONHRO mare.
Mshawish’s dam Thunder Bayou is inbred to Storm Bird 3f x 3m, one of those through his most successful son Storm Cat. This influence is a close relation to ROYAL ACADEMY and should work well with mares carry this sire. Medaglia D’Oro has produced Group 1 winner COFFEE CLIQUE out of a ROYAL ACADEMY mare.
Danehill sire FASTNET ROCK is out of a Royal Academy mare, giving his daughters a double dose of compatibility with Mshawish.
Storm Cat has an affinity with Royal Academy’s sire NIJINSKY II, bringing in mares carrying descendants such as BEL ESPRIT, CAERLEON, BLETCHLEY PARK, SERHEED, WESTERN SYMPHONY and YEATS. Medaglia D’Oro has produced stakes winners from Nijinsky II’s son RAHY and his grandson FANTASTIC LIGHT.
As a great grandson of Sadler’s Wells, Mshawish should respond well to reinforcement of the GOODY TWO SHOES family. Apart from Sadler’s Wells’ brothers FAIRY KING (sire of ENCOSTA DE LAGO, FALBRAV and HELISSIO) and TATE GALLERY and their three-quarter brother NUREYEV, other influences such as NORTHERN METEOR, GEIGER COUNTER, YEATS, INFLATE, REFORM, PERUGINO, THATCH and his son THATCHING, VAL DE LOIR, LORENZACCIO, CAMPO CATINO, TOPSIDER, FESTIVAL HALL, and OPEN DAY are appealing. ZABEEL mares not only carry Nureyev, they also have family member Val De Loir.
An ASHKALANI mare produced dual Grade 1 winner GABBY’S GOLDEN GAL with Medaglia D’Oro. A grandson of NUREYEV, his sire SOVIET STAR is also sire of STARCRAFT. Broodmares by the latter’s son STAR WITNESS holds a lot of attraction for Mshawish – he acheter viagra is out of LION HUNTER mare Leone Chiara, that mare already having produced Group 3 winner NOSTRADAMUS with Medaglia D’Oro.
A daughter of A.P. INDY has produced US dual Grade 1 winner PLUM PRETTY with Medaglia D’Oro. He can be sourced via mares by BERNARDINI, PULPIT, MINESHAFT and CONGRATS.
Mshawish’s fourth damsire White Gloves is a relation of highly successful broodmare sire, SUCCESS EXPRESS. Mares by him or his son MOSSMAN create linebreeding to the family.
MARKETING MIX, a US Grade 1 winner by Medaglia D’Oro, is out of a KRIS S mare. This brings in daughters of fellow Kris S son, BROCCO.
Mshawish carries a triplication of ALMAHMOUD family member Northern Dancer, although significantly, there is an absence of DANEHILL. In Australia, Medaglia D’Oro has eight Group winners, five of which are out of mares from the DANEHILL sire line, while another is by BELONG TO ME, a son of Danehill’s sire, DANZIG.
Mares from the DANEHILL and DANZIG sire line are therefore a hugely attractive cross for Mshawish.
Broodmares carrying other ALMAHMOUD descendants such as HALO, ORPEN, EXIT TO NOWHERE, NUCLEAR FREEZE, EAGLE EYED, YOUTHFUL LEGS, L’EMIGRANT and ARCTIC TERN provide desirable reinforcement for Mshawish.
