NIJINSKY II is working well with Johannesburg. A recognised ‘nick’ with Johannesburg’s grandsire Storm Cat, this cross has already produced Johannesburg’s dual Group One winning son, Scat Daddy, whose second damsire is Nijinsky II. ROYAL ACADEMY, WHISKEY ROAD, WESTERN SYMPHONY, KALA DANCER, YEATS, QUEST FOR FAME and SUCCESS EXPRESS.
Nijinsky’s three-quarter brother The Minstrel is known to work well with Storm Bird. Daughters of MASTERCLASS, PALACE MUSIC and his son NATURALISM are therefore appealing.
Hennessy’s affinity with Raise A Native is now obvious, with two Group 1 winners bred on this cross and another eleven stakes performers to-date. Johannesburg carries a daughter of Mr. Prospector, which will create a sex balanced pattern with sires from this line. This welcomes Australasian broodmare sires such as HUSSONET, WOODMAN, THUNDER GULCH, STRAIGHT STRIKE, ZOFFANY, GEIGER COUNTER, BELLOTTO, EL MOXIE, UNBRIDLED’S SONG, PRINCE ECHO and BITE THE BULLET. UMATILLA and QUEST FOR FAME also carry Raise a Native and have the added appeal of carrying Nijinsky II.
DEVIL’S BAG (by HALO) has been in the pedigrees of two stakes winners by Johannesburg. Other Halo line damsires include MORE THAN READY, IRGUN, DON’T SAY HALO, FUJI KISEKI and RON BON.
Hennessy’s good son Half Hennessy is out of a BLAZING SADDLES mare.
BLUE PETER, who is from the family of Utrillo II (grandsire of Hennessy’s dam), can be sourced in Australia via DANZERO, CITIDANCER, PLANET KINGDOM, MATRICE, his son PAGO PAGO, SABAEAN, SANCTION, SHALFORD, IMPERIAL PRINCE, VICTORY PRINCE and TIERCE.
RIBOT, who has worked well with Johannesburg’s sire line, is also desirable through a link in his dam. DANEHILL, EL MOXIE, MORCON, GREEN LINE EXPRESS, KALA DANCER, SEA ROAD, STAR WATCH and BOUCHER are sources of Ribot.
SIR TRISTRAM is working well with Johannesburg and his sire Hennessy. Johannesburg’s stakes winning son Turffontein is out of a DR. GRACE mare. Champion racehorse Grand Armee is out of a MARAUDING mare; Group 3 winner Acetate is out of a KAAPSTAD mare; and Listed winner Hennessy Waltz is out of a SOVEREIGN RED mare.
DANZIG and his son DANEHILL are working with Johannesburg. Gr. 3 winner Ten Meropa is out of a Danehill mare and Gr.3 winner Jupiter Pluvius is out of a BOUNDARY mare. Danzig line sires MISTER C and DANZERO have produced stakes winners by Hennessy.
