I Am Immortal is a stakes winning son of one of Australia’s most prepotent sires, I Am Invincible.
I Am Immortal traces directly to Aces Swinging, a full sister to renowned Thoroughbred influence, Raise A Native. There are only two minor presences of Raise A Native via I Am Immortal’s dam. This opens the door for his son MR PROSPECTOR in mares for I Am Immortal. Influences from the Mr Prospector sire line include HUSSONET, SECRET SAVINGS, STRAIGHT STRIKE, GONE WEST, MACHIAVELLIAN, UNBRIDLED’S SONG, ELUSIVE QUALITY, RHYTHM, KINGMAMBO, E DUBAI, FORTY NINER (sire of END SWEEP, TWINING and DISTORTED HUMOR), THUNDER GULCH, VETTORI, WOODMAN, FAPPIANO and GEIGER COUNTER. FLYING SPUR is out of a Mr Prospector mare.
Other sources of Raise A Native are CLEAR CHOICE and CROWNED PRINCE, sire of PRINCE ECHO and damsire of ZEDITAVE. Zeditave is damsire of I Am Invincible’s stakes winning daughter, I Am Zelady.
I Am Immortal carries four lines to ALMAHMOUD family member, Northern Dancer, two via his son Danzig. Family member DANEHILL is another son of Danzig and as such, could be introduced a little further back via daughters of his sons or grandsons.
Another strategy would be to introduce fellow ALMAHMOUD family member HALO (in the pedigrees of damsires such as MORE THAN READY, FUJI KISEKI, DON’T SAY HALO, SUNDAY SILENCE and SEBRING). MACHIAVELLIAN is another family member, most easily sourced in Australia via his son, STREET CRY (sire of STREET BOSS, STREET SENSE, PER INCANTO etc). VETTORI is another son of Machiavellian.
Other ALMAHMOUD male family members to look for in mares’ pedigrees are AL SAMER, WAY OF LIGHT, EXIT TO NOWHERE, EL MOXIE, YOUTHFUL LEGS, DIATRIBE, ESPERERO, L’EMIGRANT, CANNONADE and ARCTIC TERN.
I Am Immortal’s second damsire Fasliyev is out of a half sister to DIATRIBE’s damsire, DESERT WINE. As mentioned above, Diatribe is an ALMAHMOUD family member, so has plenty to offer I Am Immortal. While Diatribe mares are now few and far between, Fibrillation being one of them, mares out of Diatribe daughters may also suit.
The DANEHILL DANCER line has been particularly successful with I Am Invincible (sex balancing Sharpen Up). Multiple Group performed mare Fiesta is an example. Danehill Dancer’s sons CHOISIR and MASTERCRAFTSMAN also have a great record with I Am Immortal’s sire, producing Eckstein out of a Choisir mare and Loving Gaby out of a Mastercraftsman mare.
Sadler’s Wells and Nureyev via his dam are members of the GOODY TWO SHOES family and have worked extremely well with mares carrying reinforcements of this outstanding line. Individuals such as FAIRY KING (sire of ENCOSTA DE LAGO, FALBRAV, ADVENTUROUS, REVOQUE, HELISSIO, SHINKO KING and VICTORY NOTE), NORTHERN METEOR and sons, LORENZACCIO, THATCH (and his son THATCHING), TATE GALLERY, GEIGER COUNTER, YEATS, TOPSIDER, REFORM and OPEN DAY add to this dynasty. Encosta de Lago mares have a 12% stakes winners to runners rate with his sire, I Am Invincible.
Known Fact, Round Table and Atan in I Am Immortal’s pedigree are ALOPE family members. Family members to seek in mares include more ROUND TABLE (damsire of SIR TRISTRAM), DEEP IMPACT, JOHANNESBURG, TALE OF THE CAT, PULPIT, DOUTELLE, FOXLAW, ALCIDE, MUKDDAAM, SONG OF TARA and POMPEII COURT (damsire of STARCRAFT and O’REILLY). O’Reilly mares have produced an extremely high 28% stakes winners to runners with I Am Invincible. A Tale of the Cat mare is dam of I Am Invincible’s speedy son, Super One.
With Round Table present in SIR TRISTRAM (as above), daughters of his descendants such as LONHRO, ZABEEL, SAVABEEL, MARAUDING, OCTAGONAL, PIERRO, GROSVENOR, KAAPSTAD, TIERCE, MILITARY PLUME and IMPERIAL PRINCE are appealing. ZABEEL also sex balances Nureyev, so has additional attraction. I Am Invincible has had four runners for four winners out of Zabeel mares, including stakes horse Invinzabeel. Zabeel’s son RESET is the damsire of I Am Invincible’s brilliant daughter, Houtzen.
Warning, third damsire of I Am Immortal, is from the immediate family of SCENIC and RAINBOW QUEST. The latter’s sire descendants in Australia include, QUEST FOR FAME, VISCOUNT, SPECTRUM, GOLAN, HEMINGWAY and URGENT REQUEST. Warning is sire of DIKTAT (sire of DREAM AHEAD). I Am Immortal’s grandsire Invincible Spirit sired smart UK sprinter Cable Bay out of a Diktat mare. Mares carrying Diktat will sex balance Warning in a mating with I Am Immortal.
