A Gr.1 winning son of Champion Sire, HUSSONET (by Mr. Prospector) Host is bred on one of Hussonet’s favourite crosses, with Roy (by Fappiano – Mr. Prospector) as his damsire. This inbreeding to Mr. Prospector leaves Host’s pedigree open to many of the other highly compatible sire lines.
Hussonet follows the lead of his sire Mr. Prospector in having an affinity with DANZIG. Looking at Hussonet’s 28 Gr.1 winners, five (18%) are out of Danzig line mares. Host appears to be following suit. Of his 29 winners to-date, eight (31%) carry Danzig. Host’s dual winners Flying Hostess and Zuccherina, and winners Joplin, Super Kenny, Seen A Host, Welcome Ned, Security Index and Murramarang, all carry Danzig.
A liking for Danzig opens up the gates for the plethora of mares carrying DANEHILL and fellow sons of Danzig such as AD VALOREM, ANABAA, BELONG TO ME, BIANCONI, CHIEF’S CROWN, DESERT SUN, GOLDEN SNAKE and PERUGINO.
Hussonet carries MY BABU—who is from the same family as TURN-TO and KLAIRON—and works well with mares carrying these individuals.
Host’s stakes winner PHILIPPI (ex Encosta De Lago mare) is a prime example. His dam carries a duplication of Klairon, a duplication of Turn-to, plus another line to My Babu.
Similarly, Host’s Group placed son Hosting, winners Surprise Us and Zuccherina and smart placegetter Sky Host all carry SIR TRISTRAM in their pedigrees (three of these through ZABEEL). Sir Tristram provides a line to both My Babu and Turn-to.
Another source of Turn-to is the ROBERTO sire line. Hussonet has worked with Roberto’s son AT TALAQ, who appears as second damsire of his Champion son, WEEKEND HUSSLER. RED RANSOM is a great source of this sire line. Host’s smart Singapore performer Super Kenny is out of a Red Ransom mare. Mares by Red Ransom sons such as DOMESDAY, SRI PEKAN, CHARGE FORWARD and FACE VALUE will suit.
The CENTURY line is a source for contributing more My Babu. Mares by CENTAINE, RUBITON and EUCLASE oblige. Host’s winner Ruby Sunset is out of a Rubiton mare.
Mares by IS IT TRUE would be interesting mates for Host. He is by Raja Baba, who is also the sire of Host’s sire Hussonet’s dam. This would create a dynamic sex balanced duplication.
Both Mr. Prospector (twice) and Roy in Host’s pedigree trace to FRIZETTE. This is also the family of SEATTLE SLEW and sons such as A.P. INDY (sire of BERNARDINI), AIR DE FRANCE and AGINCOURT. LOMOND (sire of CITIDANCER) and ROAN ROCKET (damsire of RORY’S JESTER) are also from this family.
