Sadler’s Wells in combination with (Galileo’s half brother) King’s Best’s sire Kingmambo produced the Horse of the Year and Champion Colt in Japan, El Condor Pasa. This mating reinforces the THONG family, of which Sadler’s Wells is a member. Elements to look for to reinforce this family for Galileo are NUREYEV, VAL DE LOIR, RIDAN, LORENZACCIO, THATCH and his son THATCHING, WINDSOR SLIPPER, FOX MYTH and REFORM. Current broodmare sires from this line include PUISSANCE, SEQUALO, TIROL, SHALFORD, GEIGER COUNTER, YEATS, PERUGINO, ARCHWAY, RUSTIC AMBER and OPEN DAY.
From early information on his runners, it seems that Galileo is happy to be combined with a further male line of Mr. Prospector. His stakes winning two year old daughter Innocent Air is out of a JADE HUNTER (Mr. Prospector) mare. Australasian broodmare sires such as RHYTHM, WOODMAN, STRAIGHT STRIKE, UMATILLA, GEIGER COUNTER, BELLOTTO, EL MOXIE, JADE ROBBERY, distorted humor, END SWEEP, INFLATE, VETTORI, THUNDER GULCH and SECRET SAVINGS are good candidates. Mares carrying KINGMAMBO will create a cross in reverse to that of Galileo’s half brother King’s Best (by Kingmambo).
Two of Galileo’s seven stakes performers (at time of writing) carry Sharpen Up through their dams. Mares by DANEHILL DANCER, SWITCH IN TIME, CREESE, FAMOUS STAR, DIESIS, KRIS and KEEN create this pattern.
English stakes winning Galileo filly Innocent Air is out of a The Minstrel mare. This line has been brought to prominence by PALACE MUSIC. He is also the sire of MASTERCLASS and appears in the pedigree of ZAFONIC (sire of XAAR).
Galileo’s second dam is by Lombard, a close relation to VAGUELY NOBLE. Linebreeding to this family can be achieved by sending him mares by MAGIC RING and ANABAA and those carrying NOBLE BIJOU and other sons of Vaguely Noble.
Galileo’s third damsire Espresso is a half brother to KING OF BABYLON, who appears in many Australian broodmare pedigrees.
Galileo’s first Australian winner (and Group 3 fourth to-date) Galen, is out of a mare by MISTER C. This suggests that Galileo will be amenable to other sons of DANZIG.
Galileo’s Listed winner Galatee is out of a mare by Mountain Cat (STORM CAT). Storm Cat sires in Australia with daughters at stud include TALE OF THE CAT, HENNESSY and CATRAIL.
