Ducimus is a son of champion sire Snitzel, a stallion that is working with a wide variety of broodmare sire lines.
Mares from the RED RANSOM line are appealing, with Snitzel’s Gr 1 winner TRAPEZE ARTIST being out of a DOMESDAY mare, ESTIJAAB out of a CHARGE FORWARD mare and Gr 2 winner CHANCE BYE out of a mare by Red Ransom. Other sons such as ALL AMERICAN, DUPORTH, SRI PEKAN, and BROCCO will also suit Ducimus.
Dual Everest winner REDZEL is out of a RUBITON mare. Putting mares carrying Rubiton to Ducimus will also create a speed-producing sex balanced duplication of Century, as Ducimus’ third damsire is Century.
A sex balanced duplication of Snippets can be achieved by introducing his sons PINS or SNIPPETSON in mares.
HALO line broodmares can also be sought. A close relation to Danehill (duplicated in Ducimus) and Northern Dancer (5 lines), damsires such as FUJI KISEKI, MORE THAN READY, SOUTHERN IMAGE, SUNDAY SILENCE, DUBLEO and HIDEYOSHI will suit.
With Ducimus free of Mr. Prospector, damsires such as HUSSONET, RHYTHM, WOODMAN, KINGMAMBO, STRAIGHT STRIKE, MACHIAVELLIAN, ELUSIVE QUALITY, UMATILLA, GEIGER COUNTER, BELLOTTO, EL MOXIE, JADE ROBBERY, distorted humor, END SWEEP, VETTORI, THUNDER GULCH, FAPPIANO and SECRET SAVINGS are good candidates.
Redoute’s Choice and Nijinsky II in Ducimus’ pedigree are members of the TORPENHOW family. Other relations to seek in mares include TRY MY BEST (sire of LAST TYCOON), DR. JOHNSON, FAR NORTH, THE MINSTREL, HURRICANE SKY, XAAR, UMATILLA, RULER, MASTERCLASS, NEW REGENT, EL GRAN SENOR and SPINNING WORLD.
Snitzel has produced Gr 1 winners out of mares by SUCCESS EXPRESS, ENCOSTA DE LAGO and GENERAL NEDIYM. There is no reason why Ducimus would not also work well with these individuals. The KENMARE line, which is quite prolific in WA, also provides a nice outcross for Ducimus.
