A Group 3 winner only a week prior, Cool Passion proved that she can match it on the big days when lining up in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes on Caulfield Cup Day.
With Group 1 winners in the field such as FOXPLAY, GLOBAL GLAMOUR, SILENT SEDITION and multiple Group 1 placegetter, ZANBAGH, Cool Passion started at the attractive odds of $21. After overracing and then waiting for a run in the straight she muscled through and hit the lead at the 200m mark, only to be pipped at the post (by 0.1 length) by Global Glamour.
The impressive effort prompted trainer Tony McEvoy to announce that she will be going into the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m for mares) at her next start, where she will likely come across a very similar field.
Cool Passion is the product of a Pedigree Dynamics-planned mating for long term clients Michael and Jill MacDermott.
